Challenges of an Aging Population

Inaugural Session of the international conference on ‘Dementia and Bangladesh: Challenges of an Ageing Population for a Developing Country’ was held on 12 February at 7:15 pm at the BIAM Auditorium, 63 New Eskaton, Dhaka-1000. Mr Syed Mohsin Ali, MP, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Social Welfare, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was present in the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The inaugural session was also attended, among others, by Ms Nasima Begum, ndc, Secretary-in-Charge, Ministry of Social Welfare, Dr Rahman Jilani, Executive Director of the Sir William Beveridge Foundation, Dr Jacob Roy Kuriakose, Chairman of Alzheimer’s Disease International, Frank J Schaper, Dementia Consultant and Visiting Fellow, Dementia Study Training Centre, Queensland University of Technology and Major General Jiban Kanai Das (Retd), Country Representative and Head of Operations-Bangladesh, Sir William Beveridge Foundation. Michael O’Keefe, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Sir William Beveridge Foundation chaired the inaugural session.
